How You Can Help '...the
greatest gift that ever was given in England.' '..this
Sanctuary, provided against the frowns of the world.'
Charterhouse
(Sutton's Hospital) continues to fulfil the charitable wishes of its
founder, Thomas Sutton, as it has done through the centuries since 1611.
Demands on Charterhouse for the provision of care are as great now as
at any time in its history. The Trustees are also deeply conscious of
their duty to maintain the fabric of this beautiful complex of buildings,
not only for our generation, but also for all those who will benefit in
the future. Your help is vital. There are a few ways in which you can help: a) Visit Charterhouse Come and visit Charterhouse on one of the tours. All income from the sale of tickets goes towards supporting the Brothers who live here and the upkeep of the ancient buildings. In addition to tours, Charterhouse takes part in the The National Gardens Scheme and London Open House. b) Make a simple donation Anyone can make a donation towards the running of Charterhouse, by sending a crossed cheque or by putting money into the donation box at Charterhouse. If you want the money to be used for a specific purpose, please say so in a covering letter. Please make cheques payable to Charterhouse. You may prefer to use Gift Aid so that Charterhouse can reclaim the tax; please download the Gift Aid form and return it to the Hospital with your donation. c)
Leave a legacy to Charterhouse If you have already made a Will, you
will need to keep it up to date and a new Will can be made at any time.
More simply, you can add charitable legacies to your Will by seeing your
solicitor about a short codicil. If you decide to leave a legacy to Charterhouse,
our full name and address is: Charterhouse, Sutton's Hospital, Charterhouse
Square, London EC1M 6AN. Gifts made to charity escape inheritance tax.
